Origins[]

The 1977 Blackout of New York City was slightly different than the ones that occurred in 1965 and 2003 for two reasons. The power loss was localized to NYC and the surrounding area and resulted in city-wide looting and arson. This DJ mixer was stolen during the blackout; it inadvertently helped spread hip-hop music outside of the Bronx.

Effects[]

The DJ mixer creates a blast of energy that shuts down all electrical power coming from a grid or electricity company, lasting a maximum of one day. The area encompassed under the effects is the size of New York City. The downside, besides power outage, is that it causes all within the affected area to start looting or vandalizing property.
