Origin[]

Classified as one of the Seven Lucky Gods of Japanese Buddhism, Daikoku has a strong relationship with wealth and grains. Many depictions have him surrounded by bales of rice or other grains, signifying plentiful food and therefore easiness to afford such amounts. He also carries a magical mallet able to release anything the user wishes to have.

Due to his relation to good luck, the tradition of fukunusubi has evolved in response. It is believed that stealing religious figures would bring fortune only if the thief did not get caught. Many people would sell their stolen idols at a yearly market to profit off fellow get-rich-quick schemers.

Effects[]

When struck against something kitchen-related, a small bunch of gold coins will appear. The gold will disappear if the user is seen in the act of striking. To replace their reversal of fortune, the mallet will summons large quantities of rice - in the person's mouth.
