Origin[]
King Mu of Zhou (1027 - 922 BC) was the fifth king of the Chinese Zhou Dynasty. Mu came to the throne after his father King Zhao's death during his tour to the South. He was reputed to be a just King who ruled for 55 years. More ambitious than wise, he introduced reforms to change the nature of the Zhou Dynasty government by transforming it from a hereditary system to one based on merit and knowledge of administrative skills. During his reign he managed to expand the Zhou's influence to the east, causing unease with the state of Xu which pushed back.
It wasn't discovered until recently but in order to take the throne Mu used Black Widow Poison to murder his father. Later he suffered the same fate as his son Gong killed Mu with poison of his own after learning of his infidelity, having a mistress from the South.
