Marvelous Marvin Hagler (1954 -) is an American former professional boxer who reigned as the undisputed middleweight champion from 1980 to 1987. He made twelve defenses of the undisputed title and today holds the highest knockout percentage of all undisputed middleweight champions, at 78%. Marvelous isn't the nickname given to Hagler by announcers, in fact they outright refused it so Hagler legally changed his name. Along with his wins Hagler received seven different awards during his lifetime including being named fighter of the year twice and third greatest middleweight of all time.
After he retired he did a charity event in order to raise money for the American Boxer Charitable Foundation when he learned that a ringer was being brought in to defeat him. Placing a huge bet on himself he switched out one of his gloves with his opponent after discovering that his strength turned them into artifacts to switch positions in order score a win. Since the odds were against him Hagler won a huge amount of money for the charity.
