Michiel Adriaenszoon de Ruyter (1607 - 1676) was a Dutch admiral. He is the most famous and most skilled admirals in history. His most famous victory was in the Anglo-Dutch Wars of the 17th century. It was there where he found the English and French, scoring several major victories against them, the most known being the Raid on the Medway. De Ruyter was so loved by his sailors and soldiers nicknamed him Bestevaer, Dutch for grandfather.
