Peter the Hermit was a priest of Amiens and spiritual leader of the First Crusade. He organized the paupers within the Catholic Church to take back the Holy Land, leading several pilgrimages. Most of the people involved in the march were either unable to come or suffered starvation and attack on the journey there. By the time the crusaders were sieging the city of Antioch, most soldiers and followers had died or lost trust in him.
