Origin[]

Thales of Miletus (624-546 B.C.E.) was a pre-Socratic mathematician and astronomer, as well as regarded by many as one of the first philosophers. Unlike prior great thinkers, Thales attempted to explain natural phenomena without reference to mythology. His theories include the origin of nature, the cause of change, the scientific method, as well as thoughts on celestial bodies that would ultimately lead to Greek Astronomy, including predicting the date of a solar eclipse and the diameter of the sun and moon.

Also notably, Thales is attributed as the one who discovered static electricity, having observed the electric spark created off lodestone and amber that could attract nearby feathers. Thales believed that this spark was the energy that allowed matter to change form.

Effects[]

The same piece of amber that Thales used in his discovery of static electricity, this resin is now imbued with the ability to charge any object with static cling, simply by rubbing it and placing it against the object in question.

The static field will spread from the object to all objects it connects to, and so on. This effect and the strength of the static cling can be supercharged if the amber is in the presence of sunlight or water.
