Origin[]

Mary Somerville was a Scottish science writer and polymath at a time when women's participation in science was discouraged. She studied mathematics and astronomy, and was nominated to be jointly the first female member of the Royal Astronomical Society at the same time as Caroline Herschel. She began tutoring on topics diverse as language, mathematics and astronomy at an early age. Her curiosity led her to getting a copy of Euclid's Elements of Geometry to learn more herself.

Effects[]

When read from, the user can view another person’s future events and their longevity. Major events or periods in their life have large chapters or sections dedicated to them, while less significant happenings will take up only several paragraphs. The user must possess a desire for knowledge beforehand; otherwise the artifact will just be an inert book.
